Ride the Molokai Princess to Maui

  • Ferry rides to Lahaina, Maui. Spend the day, or arrange for a longer visit
  • Approx. 90 minutes across the Kalohi Channel
  • Adult round trip tickets about $85.00, children ½ price 

Hike Pepe Opae Trail 

  • A very narrow boardwalk trail, which leads through an incredibly lush, mountain-top rain forest, to a spectacular view of the North Shore’s Pelekunu Bay.
  • Located in the Nature Conservancy’s 2,700 acre Kamakou Preserve, at 4790 ft. above sea level.                      
  • On the way, stop by and see the local wood carver. His sign welcomes visitors to visit, view, or purchase his unique handmade bowls and carvings made from indigenous woods like: Koa, Curly Koa, Milo, Monkey Pod, and Norfolk Pine.
  • Also, stop and see the Sandalwood Pit; used to measure how much Sandalwood would fit into the hull of a cargo ship for transport, years ago.

Charter a Fishing Boat at Kaunakakai Wharf

  • Catch Ahi, Mahi Mahi, Ono, Ulua, or Kawakawa
  • Go Sport Fishing for the Pacific’s Mighty Blue Marlin

Take a Whale Watching Excursion (Seasonal Dec - May)

  • See Pacific Humpback Whales breach and slap their tails in fantastic displays of sea spray and power.

Snorkel Hawaii’s Longest Continuous Reef

Hike Pala’au State Park

  • A 34 acre Recreation Site at 1000 ft, surrounded by Eucalyptus and Ironwood Trees.The trail forks to the left and to the right: To the right is Kalaupapa Lookout. A phenomenal view of Kalaupapa  Peninsula (translated meaning “Level Land Resembling a Flat Leaf”). To the left is Kaule O Nanahoa – Phallic Rock

Tour Kalaupapa Peninsula with Damien Tours of Kalaupapa

  • A Permit is required, and you must be at least 16 yrs. of age to visit this National Historic Park
  • Hike the 26 switchbacks comprised of 1,630 steps (This is how we did it!)  Indescribable views!
  • Take a guided tour down the steep Sea Cliffs on the “World Famous Molokai Mule Ride.”  You will find the Mule Barn in Kalae
  • Fly in on Paragon Air
  • Kalaupapa is NOT accessible by car
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch at Judd Park while touring Kalaupapa

Drive to Waikolu Overlook

  • View the North Shore Pali, the World’s Highest Sea Cliffs, at over 3000 ft.

Walk Kaunakakai Harbor

  • The longest Wharf in Hawaii

Send a Coconut via USPS 

  • Home of the original Post-A-Nut
  • Stop by the Hoolehua Post Office and pick up a free coconut. Decorate it with markers, address it, and send it home to your friends on the mainland,  for a real Molokai souvenir.

Drive to Halawa Valley

  • Most Eastern of all the North Shore Valleys, and the only Valley accessible by car. You drive past 20 Mile Beach, up over pastureland, and down a steep narrow road on a fabulous adventure, which leads to a panoramic view of the Halawa Valley Ampitheater.
  • ½ mile wide and 3-4 miles deep, you can hike to two towering waterfalls; Hipuapua Falls or Moa’ula Falls, and swim in a 150 ft natural bubbling pool. A local guide is suggested. 

Four Wheel Drive to Mo’omomi Dunes

  • A scenic wind-blown preserve, also under the management of the Nature Conservancy.
  • It can only be visited by 4-wheel drive.

  • Here you’ll find a wonderful collection of books about Hawaii, and a stock of video movies from which to chose for check-out

If you find yourself exhausted from some of the wonderful activities you’ve enjoyed while on Molokai, don’t forget that a dip in the pool, a stroll along Papohaku Beach, a nap under a palm tree, a good book, or a soak in the jacuzzi will restore your strength, so you can continue your adventure the following morning!
